I recently had the chance to take a short trip to Cape Sounion, a wonderful area at the south of Attica Peninsula in Greece.
According the legend, Cape Sounion is the spot where Aegeus the king of Athens leapt to his death off the cliff, thus giving his name to the Aegean Sea. At the Southernmost part lies one of the most imposing examples of the Ancient Hellenic Civilization, the Temple of Poseidon. At the same era when Parthenon was build, the temple of Poseidon was constructed in a 4-year period (444-440 BC) over the ruins of a temple dating from the Archaic Period. Located at the top of a cliff, the temple build to honor the God of the Sea offers a spectacular view over the Aegean Sea.
Even though this is not what I usually shoot, I couldn't resist to freeze that moment with my camera. I still believe though that a camera cannot imprint the true beauty of the surrounding neither the mystical vibe you feel when you are actually standing there.
Still though, any photo has a long story behind it, a personal story which I lived with 5 very interesting people, a story uninteresting to most of the other people, a story too long to tell.
